Velenkosini Fiki Hlabisa (IFP) on his party’s approach to coalition government
Velenkosini Fiki Hlabisa (born January 1965) took over the reins of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) from Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi in 2019. Having led the Official Opposition in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature, he became a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa in 2023.
The IFP is campaigning to return to Government in KwaZulu-Natal after the 29 May elections and is signatory to the Multi-Party Charter for South Africa which intends forming a coalition government to unseat the ANC at national level.
Mr Hlabisa will address the Cape Town Press Club on the IFP’s approach to coalition government, and how he expects politics to unfold in the aftermath of the elections.
