Brian Ingpen Maritime Journalist on ‘Shipping’s Dire Straits

Maritime author and journalist Brian Ingpen will address the Cape Town Press Club on a range of maritime issues, including the current crises in the Straits of Hormuz and the Red Sea-Gulf of Aden passage, the local cruise sector, shipping as the potential employer of thousands of South Africans, and government inertia that has handicapped the industry for years. He will also share perspectives on prospecting for offshore oil and gas reserves along the South African coast.

The author of 13 maritime-related books, Ingpen has wandered the Cape Town harbour for more than forty years and used to write the shipping news column for the Cape Times.

He will take questions.
