Barry Streek/Donwald Pressly Memorial Lecture delivered by Cheryl Carolus

Cheryl Carolus will deliver the 2024 Barry Streek/Donwald Pressly Memorial Lecture.

She was previously the South African High Commissioner in London, later served as executive officer of South African Tourism and chairperson of South African Airways.

A veteran of the struggle against apartheid, she was deputy secretary general of the ANC and has been vocal in speaking out and campaigning against corruption.

Carolus has served on numerous boards including as chairperson of the South African Parks Board, Lovelife, Goldfields, Investec, BDFM publishers, the Constitution Hill Trust, the WWF International, International Crisis Group.

We are honoured to have Cheryl Carolus present this year’s Memorial Lecture and the title of her address is ‘Rebooting Democracy, Modernising Governance.
