Roberto Quintas on the taxi strike that paralysed Cape Town

Councillor Roberto Quintas is the Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, the directorate responsible for the development and maintenance of the City of Cape Town’s roads and stormwater infrastructure, the management of the roads network, the management of the MyCiti public transport service, the Integrated Public Transport Network and the Comprehensive Integrated Transport Plan.  In the aftermath of the violent taxi strike that paralysed the city in August, Quintas will address the Cape Town Press Club on what lies ahead.

Appointed in 2021 under then-mayor Dan Plato, just as the City started to recover from the Covid lockdown period which had brought roadworks to a halt, Quintas was given the “clear mandate to restore the N2 Express and Mitchells Plain link on the MyCiTi bus system, and to deliver a multi-billion-rand MyCiTi expansion”.

Quintas is ward 74 councillor which includes Llandudno and the Hout Bay area.

He will take questions.
