Prof. Linda-Gail Bekker on achieving population immunity through Covid-19 vaccinations

Professor Linda-Gail Bekker is the co-lead investigator of the Sisonke trial that was used to vaccinate half a million health workers in South Africa against Covid-19.
Bekker has been working day and night to get vaccines into the country. It is a race to save lives that echoes the struggle of the ARV rollout during the AIDS pandemic.
Professor Bekker is a Professor of Medicine and Director of the Desmond Tutu HIV Centre at the University of Cape Town Faculty of Health Sciences. She is a Past President of the International AIDS Society. She published 69 peer-reviewed journal papers in 2020 alone.
Bekker will address the Cape Town Press Club on the challenges we face to vaccinate enough people against Covid-19 in order to achieve population immunity. She will take questions.
