Minister of Education David Maynier on “Driving education reform in the Western Cape”

David John Maynier has been the Western Cape Provincial Minister of Education since May 2022. The provincial education sector is under extreme pressure, having to contend with poor learning outcomes, high demand for school placement, and national budget uncertainty.

In the face of these challenges, Maynier will address the Cape Town Press Club on “Driving education reform in the Western Cape”.

Maynier was previously the Provincial Minister of Finance and Economic Opportunities. He was elected as a Member of Parliament in the National Assembly in 2009, and served the Democratic Alliance as their Shadow Minister of Defence and later Finance. He has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Harvard University.
