Michael Beaumont on Coalition Government in Western Cape and South Africa

Michael Beaumont is the interim National Chairperson of ActionSA and its key strategist. Previously he was chief of staff in the City of Johannesburg, appointed in 2016 by then mayor Herman Mashaba. He had before that served nine years as managing director of the DA in KZN and Gauteng.

Beaumont would later author The Accidental Mayor, a behind-the-scenes account of internal DA factionalism, the looting of Johannesburg, and the achievements of the mayor. After the collapse of the Johannesburg coalition government in 2019, Beaumont co-founded of The People’s Dialogue and ActionSA.

Beaumont will address the Cape Town Press Club on the need for a coalition government in South Africa and in the Western Cape.
