Marecia Damons and Daniel Steyn on The Thabo Bester Saga
The faked death and sensational escape of murderer and rapist Thabo Bester, allegedly assisted by society doctor Nandipha Magudumana, has gripped the South African public for months.
The GroundUp journalists who broke the story and doggedly pursued it have now written it up in book form, giving a behind the scenes account: The Thabo Bester Story.
Marecia Damons and Daniel Steyn exposed the couple’s scams and caught the government asleep at the wheel while Bester and Magudumana lived the high life in Sandton.
Damons and Steyn will address the Cape Town Press Club on the Bester saga and what it says about South Africa’s broken prison system.
