Former President FW de Klerk on how to come to terms with the country’s history
It is 30 years since former president FW de Klerk made the speech at the opening of parliament that changed the course of South African history. He was the last president of the old white minority government and then one of two deputy presidents in the first democratic government under President Nelson Mandela. How to come to terms with the country’s history has become a fraught and thorny issue. De Klerk will share his thoughts on how to deal with the past.
