The Quaker Peace Centre challenges BAe arms deal @ Pavillion [ LUNCH ]

The Cape Town Press Club hosts a working lunch for the Quaker Peace Centre which is instituting a claim against the South African Government aimed at cancelling the arms deal with BAe, thereby, recovering some R35 billion for the beleaguered SA fiscus.

Carol Bower and Rommel Roberts who are respectively chair and on the executive of the QPC will speak to the activism of the Quakers and the need for public interest litigation that makes speaking truth to power an effective way of targeting injustices that negatively impact the poor.

The Quakers played a big role in ending slavery and child labour in the USA. In SA the Quakers were at the forefront of ending the pass laws.

They will take questions.
