Anthony Turton, an outspoken water activist, says government doesn’t seem to care about the pending Western Cape water crisis. He is particularly concerned about the misuse of aquifers – the Table Mountain one in particular.

The politicians are clutching at straws by the allure of the Cinderella resource which is an aquifer. The Ghyben-Herzberg principle tells us that when you abstract fresh water from a coastal aquifer then salt water intrusion is inevitable.

Turton is attending a Water Leapathon Advisory Board meeting earlier on Thursday, but on Thursday evening - in association with the Cape Town Press Club – he will provide some answers to the water problem.

He will speak at an evening interactive session with members and guests of the Cape Town Press Club as well as members of The Water Leapathon Advisory Board.
