Adam Habib - Wits University Vice-Chancellor @ Kelvin Grove

Adam Habib, as the Vice-Chancellor of Wits University was in the thick of the Fees Must Fall protests from 2015 to 2018. He has been frank and controversial in his views, and his approach has at times in contrast to that taken by the University of Cape Town.

From the perspective of a high-ranking member of university management, but also as a highly regarded political scientist, and with a background as an activist during the struggle against apartheid, Habib will reflect on the events that have forever changed South Africa’s university campuses.

Habib is an academic, researcher, activist, administrator, and frequent political commentator and columnist. His 30 years of expertise, spanning five universities and numerous local and international institutions, boards and task teams, has given him penetrating insights into many of the challenges that face South Africa, specifically transformation, democracy and economic development.

Habib will address the Cape Town Press Club on Fees Must Fall and the current state of our universities. He will take questions on broader issues.
